Welcome to Connections! Day 1 is where it all begins. Today we walked through the doors to the digital marketing event of the year, put on our badges, and settled in for three unforgettable days of marketing innovation and inspiration.

As you recharge your devices and shine up your dancing shoes for tonight’s Connections Music Festival, here are four major highlights from Connections Day 1. (Can’t make it to Atlanta? Don’t miss the livestream of major keynotes and sessions!)

1. Opening Keynote with Scott McCorkle

Scott McCorkle, CEO, Marketing Cloud, explained how every marketer can join customers on a 1-to-1 journey. With the proliferation of devices and data, Scott revealed how everyone and every thing is smarter — and why that gives marketers a huge opportunity to understand our businesses and customers in unprecedented ways. Rep. John Lewis also made a special appearance.

2. The Customer Success Expo Opens

The Expo is your one-stop shop for learning, trying new technology, networking, and yes — filling a bag with cool swag all week long. Tonight at 6, don’t forget to join us in the Expo for the Welcome Reception! Grab a cold one and get to know your fellow marketers at Connections.

3. Jay Baer Taught Us to Hug Our Haters — Plus More Incredible Breakouts

In his inspirational and jam-packed session, Jay Baer shared practical ways that every brand can hug its haters and turn the biggest detractors into the most loyal advocates. It was a customer service message that all marketers can take home to their organizations. We heard more amazing breakouts from brands like WeddingWire, learned about the State of Marketing, and did plenty of hands-on workshop sessions.

4. Tonight: Connections Music Festival!

Join thousands of your marketing peers for a rocking good time at the Georgia Dome. It’s going to be a night of world-class music, live entertainment, and toasting to an inspirational week with the world’s best marketers. Join us at the Georgia Dome at 7:30! And don’t forget to set your alarms for tomorrow. You won’t want to miss a beat on Day 2 of Connections. Breakouts start at 8:45 and Bryan Wade’s keynote starts at 10.
