Here at Salesforce, the environment is important to us. That’s why we integrate sustainability into Dreamforce each year by conserving resources, sourcing responsibly, reducing waste, and inspiring attendees to do the same. This year marks a few exciting milestones on our sustainability journey.

On Thursday, September 27, we’re hosting the first-ever Climate Summit at Dreamforce. This full day of programming will feature the world’s most innovative Trailblazers driving climate change solutions in business and society. Learn more by watching our recent Road to Dreamforce episode on Salesforce Live.

We are also introducing several new initiatives to make this year’s Dreamforce the most sustainable yet. Here’s how we’re bringing sustainability to life at Dreamforce ‘18 — and how you can get involved:

Take Action

  • Take the Sustainable Future trail on Trailhead to learn how business, government, and individuals can drive climate change solutions together.

  • Mark your calendar for our inspiring Dreamforce Climate Summit keynotes (details coming soon in the Agenda Builder).

Reduce Your Footprint

  • We’re going 100% beefless for the attendee lunch, conserving an estimated 10 million gallons of water.

  • Our lunch program will offer 100% compostable packaging — the container, napkin and utensils — all you have to do is toss it in the green bin when you’re done!

  • We’ll recycle your badge and lanyard! Once the event is over, just leave it in the designated lobby bins in Moscone West, and we’ll make sure they get recycled.

  • Just like last year, we’re offsetting 100% of Dreamforce’s onsite carbon emissions and emissions produced by employees traveling to the event. You can join us too by offsetting your travel emissions to Dreamforce through an awesome organization called, Cool Effect. Salesforce has partnered with them to offer attendees quick and wallet-friendly ways to contribute to projects around the world that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • We’re also investing in a water conservation project in the Sacramento River Valley equal to 100% of the amount of water used at Dreamforce.

Give Back

As in past years, we will provide a reusable water bottles to full conference attendees in an effort to reduce single-use plastic water bottles. However, this year we’re taking it to another level. Not only are we eliminating single-use plastic water bottles altogether, but we are also giving attendees an opportunity to Fill it Forward.

In partnership with WaterAid, the Fill it Forward initiative has helped communities around the world gain access to clean water, hygiene, and sanitation. Every refill will get us one step closer to unlocking our Dreamforce water project: a hand pump in Tanzania, serving up to 3,000 people. Find more details about this initiative inside your Dreamforce reusable water bottle from Cupanion.
