With Connections rapidly approaching, we launched our Call for Speakers this week. We are really excited about this year’s new lineup of topics and are looking for great partners and customers to help us round out our roster. A reminder that we are looking for speakers, not fully baked presentations. Speaking at Connections will be a fantastic experience and if you have ever attended any Salesforce event, you know that the quality of session speakers is extremely high.

If you have a great story to share about creating amazing customer experiences in marketing, commerce, and customer service, we would like to hear from you. There are two options in our Call for Speakers, you can nominate yourself or nominate someone who you think would be a great speaker. Our content team will comb though all submissions and if you are selected to speak at Connections, you will receive a complimentary full conference pass. All submissions must be in by May 4, 2018.

If you are thinking “Hey, I have a great story to tell and I should submit my idea!” Well if that’s the case then here are a few tips and guidelines to give you an idea of what we’re looking for.

For 30 minute sessions, we’re looking for speakers that:

  1. Have a great story to tell and a passion for sharing your knowledge with others
  2. Help solve common challenges
  3. Provide clear successful use cases, best practices, teachings and how-to’s
  4. Can go deep on how your company is using Salesforce to create amazing customer experiences
  5. Highlight the ROI and additional benefits your company and team has seen since implementing Salesforce

For our 20 minute theater sessions, we’re looking for speakers that:

  1. Can highlight a tip or trick like “Use this shortcut to save 10 minutes a week”
  2. Tell a great customer success story
  3. Focus and/or highlight a specific feature and how you are using it
  4. A great demo
  5. Top 3 things you need to get started with.....

Now that you have an idea of what we’re looking for, here are a few helpful tips for crafting your speaker submission so that you get selected to speak.

  1. Outline your talking points - think about why an attendee should give your their time
  2. List what problems you are solving
  3. List and rank your top messages
  4. List your target personas and/or industries - who is the audience for your story?
  5. What is the take-away or action item the attendee walks away with?

Once you have those 5 things outlined you are ready to apply to speak. Once on the submissions page, be as precise and descriptive as possible - the more direct you are the easier it is for our content teams to understand exactly what you would like to speak about

  1. Let us know what other speaking experience that you have
  2. Think about if you would prefer to speak in a 20 or a 30 minute session.

Whatever your topic, your knowledge and passion is what will make a great Connections session. If you’ve never spoken at Dreamforce or any of our events, don’t worry. We have lots of ways to help you prepare. This great Trailhead module on Public Speaking Skills is specifically designed for new speakers.

The Connections Call for Speakers closes May 4, 2018. We will notify all selected speakers by May 11.

Thanks very much and we look forward to seeing you at Connections
