The healthy lifestyle company Preventure helps companies improve employee health through custom community wellness solutions. Its "Return on Wellness" model shows that employee health directly impacts the health of a business. Preventure's twenty-five years of industry knowledge, innovation, and execution led to more than 10 million employees globally taking an active role in their well-being today.
Healthy employees lead to a healthy business. Preventure guides companies with solutions that guarantee healthier bottom lines for their customers. "Our customers are primarily either an employer group or a health insurer, both of which are looking to improve the health of their employees or customers," says Laura Walmsley, Chief Business Development Officer at Preventure.
Preventure utilizes Salesforce Marketing Cloud to send personalized messages containing relevant content, when and where customers want it, to guide next steps in a wellness program or inspire healthier choices.
Your own well-being and the everyday actions you take to support it are incredibly personal. Participants can choose their preferred mode of communication, and since Marketing Cloud operates within the Customer Success Platform, Preventure can easily connect their data to create 1-to-1 wellness journeys.
SMS messages play a key role in creating this customer wellness. Preventure's team wanted another way to engage and reach clients to enhance the user experience and gain more adoption. They created a contextualized onboarding process and year-round engagement reminder campaign that is personalized to each person's activity level. Subscribers receive specific SMS reminders like, "Have you ran the 5km you said you would?" or, "You haven't completed your biometric screening for a discount on your annual insurance fees." They also sprinkle in fun text messages like a "Happy Birthday" note.
Preventure plans to leverage SMS as an educational tool. On deck for 2017 is a pilot with one of its large hospital clients, including the use of text message as part of an adherence campaign for diabetes patients. SMS is more than just a messaging channel: It's now a means to create a positive change in patients' lives and manage chronic diseases.
"The very nature of asking people to make health-related changes such as quitting smoking or getting more exercise is very personal, so that drove how we designed the application," says Walmsley. "We arrived at creating a community that tracks personal incentives and builds a personalized hub for each user's wellness journey." The onboarding process for the community is straightforward: Users begin by taking a short, gamified survey on their exercise habits, stress levels, nutrition practices, and more - and in less than 60 seconds, they're provided with a personalized wellness path built just for them.
Part of creating an engaging community customers would want to interact with was giving customers the ability to personalize their homepage to include images, relevant content, behavior reminders, and device management after completing their initial on-boarding. Employee engagement in the program is achieved through gamified challenges that address different personal habits. Users can enroll in programs, track commitments, and earn reward badges to motivate customers toward their wellness goals. As part of community challenges, there are incentive programs where employees earn points they can redeem for rewards. "Each company has its own unique community; everything we do for our customers is specific to them and their needs to improve their health," says Walmsley.
Integrating the Internet of Things is a vital initiative for Preventure today and in the future. Currently, the system focuses on exercise programs where users can link their devices such as FitBit to track exercise minutes, sleep, and steps. Once the the device is linked, data is imported automatically into the system every time the user signs on. "This is useful for us so that we can alter messaging and push recommendations based on changing fitness levels," says Walmsley. "The gamification comes into play because we can award badges for challenges met, both individually and on team levels, and it really involves employees and motivates them to improve their performance."
Preventure's roadmap for integrating more devices into their Community Cloud-based solutions includes biometric and stress level trackers as well as blood pressure and other biomedical markers. The goal is to make information sharing and tracking easy so more people will engage on a consistent basis.
Preventure-supported employers and their staffs can look forward to a healthy future, thanks to the company's creative thinking and a little help from Salesforce.
