Ready, set, Fitbit! Can you keep up with Marc Benioff and Michael Dell in the Fitbit Celebrity Challenge?

Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff and Dell Chairman and CEO Michael Dell are competing to see who logs the most steps on their Fitbit activity trackers. Fitbit will donate $10,000 to the American Heart Association in the name of the CEO with the most steps.

Here are four ways you can get involved today:

  • Check the Fitbit Celebrity Challenges page for updates on Marc and Michael’s number of steps throughout the challenge.

  • Use your own Fitbit or activity tracker to see if you can log as many steps as the CEOs.

  • Tweet your support to @benioff and @michaeldell. You can also use the hashtags #fitbitforaha and #teambenioff to support Marc.

  • Donate to the American Heart Association and help pump up Marc’s step count! He receives 10 extra steps for every $1 donated.

Which CEO will step into the Celebrity Challenge winner’s circle? Either way, by focusing on taking more steps throughout the day, they’ll both be improving overall health and lowering their risk of cardiovascular disease.

Here are a few encouraging walking statistics from the Fitbit blog to inspire you to join the challenge:

  • People who are physically active live longer and have a lower risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, and some cancers.

  • The average Australian person takes 9,695 steps per day, the average Japanese person 7,168, and the average Swiss person 9,650, while the average American takes only 5,117 steps per day.

  • It would take a person walking nonstop approximately 347 days to walk around the world.

  • The average pair of tennis shoes will last 500 miles of walking.
