'Tis the season for spine-chilling movies, pop-culture costumes, and plastic pumpkins full of bite-sized candy.
And I absolutely hate one of those things. I'll give you a hint:
There's a scene in the movie Twister (you know, Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, sad cows, F5 tornados) that takes place in an outdoor theater. The Shining is playing in the background of this scene. I leave the room during this part of Twister.
Yes, it's that bad.
Why do I hate scary movies? Nice people make horrible decisions because they're ignoring some pretty obvious signs. If you're like me and yell at the screen, "Don't open that door!" or "Behind you, you idiot!" you know what I mean.
Well, in marketing, we can fall into this same detrimental pattern. We know the terrifying marketing facts, the stats and research indicating shifts in the way we do business. And yet, we still (metaphorically) walk through that creaking door, into that dark hallway, all by ourselves.
So Salesforce and Kapost have called in some backup—13 marketers, to be exact—to help us make smarter decisions in these terrifying times. We compiled some of our favorite tricks from top marketers and asked members of the Content Marketing Academy to share their must-follow advice.
And then, because we liked puns and it's almost Halloween, we turned these tricks into tweets. Check them out in the SlideShare below.
