Achieving your business goals in these days has become a very difficult task. In order to make your business successful, highly motivated and productive employees are the key component. Team building activities and events can point out some strong sides of your employees’ personalities and enable you to delegate job responsibilities more equally. This can lead to a greater job satisfaction and feeling of achievement which are crucial for your work force to be motivated and hyper productive.
Team building activities bring co-workers together closer, ensuring benefits for the team as a whole as well. You can choose different types of activities for your employees, from building bikes to having a barbecue, but the result should always be the same and that is a happy employee.
A lot of people ask me this question. I usually tell them this: First you must know what you want. Then think how to get it. And in the end, all that’s left is accomplishing your goal. What do you want? You want success; you want your company to improve and grow. After all, that’s why you’re reading this.
The only way your company can prosper is by having good and loyal employees. And almost everyone understands this last sentence as: I guess it’s up to the employees then, not up to me. I’ll just hire new people until I get the perfect team. Wrong! You are the leader, the backbone and the symbol of the company. So, where to start? Start from yourself.
First you need to understand how your employees think and how do they feel about working for you. Studies have shown higher success rates in companies that have a friendlier manager- employee relationships. If you erase the barrier that exits between the two, you will have employees who are open for cooperation, for giving and receiving suggestions and generally more comfortable to work with.
But make sure to walk that thin line and still keep your authority. Having a good relationship with your subordinates is a good start, but having them work well together is the ultimate goal. Every large company in the world is divided in teams. Starting from Google, Microsoft to Coca Cola and so on, they all work on the similar principle. To make a good team, first you need to know your employees. Recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and make them complement each other. This is a beginning of a good corporate machine.
You can read a bit more on creating a functioning team here. It is essential to have your team feel relaxed around each other. The main reason why people are uptight in someone’s presence is because there is a lack of trust. This can be solved through different activities and games that make your employees trust each other in order to win. Mutual trust and respect will allow them to cooperate on a much higher level. They will discuss ideas much freely and frequently. They will form bonds which will make their work easier, their lives less stressful and all of these things contribute to your business.
The best way to motivate someone is to have him/her do it for themselves. Never forget the golden rule: A happy employee is a good employee! The best thing about team building is that it doesn’t take much out of you. You can do it on your own, or hire a company to do it. The truth is, it will always pay off.
All you have to do now is to put all these words in action, make a move for your company and reap the fruits of your labor. You will notice the significant increase in productivity straight away. In the end, you can sit back and watch how your company grows on its’ own. That is the result of successful team building.
