Salesforce, the pioneer of low-code application development, has been recognized as a leader by Forrester Research in its report The Forrester Wave™: Mobile Low-Code Development Platforms, Q1 2017.
The report evaluated 11 vendors based on 24 criteria, including current offering, strategy and market presence. Not only was Salesforce App Cloud Mobile named a leader, it achieved the highest score among all reviewed vendors in the market presence category.
According to The Forrester Wave™: Low-Code Development Platforms, Q2 2016, In 2014, Forrester started tracking a rapidly growing software category they labeled "low-code platforms." As defined by Forrester, low-code platforms enable rapid delivery of business applications with a minimum of hand-coding and minimal upfront investment in setup, training, and deployment.
The low-code development platforms market consists of wide range of vendors providing platforms that support building, deploying, and managing apps through declarative tooling that supports visual drag-and-drop composition.
Low-code tools also empower an entirely new class of app builders who have become highly-proficient in a low-code development practice that allows non-technical users to build apps based on any business process in a fraction of the time of traditional development models.
Since the company’ founding in 1999, Salesforce has empowered business users and ‘citizen developers’ to customize and build apps fast with point-and-click tools, extending the power of core CRM capabilities. The evolution of Force.com with Lightning, Salesforce1, the mobile SDK and Heroku, is paving the way for customers to connect to their customers in whole new ways through powerful mobile apps.
The recent unveiling of Einstein brings the power of artificial intelligence to every mobile user on Salesforce. Now generally available and being leveraged by customers to deliver smarter, more impactful customer experiences, Salesforce Einstein empowers developers of all skill levels to embed advanced AI capabilities into mobile capabilities across fields, objects, workflows, components and more.
Last year Salesforce also introduced Trailhead, an online skills-based learning tool for all types of users, including low-code builders. The Trailhead ecosystem is vibrant, with over two million Trailhead badges earned by online learners to date, three million developers and 3,000 available AppExchange apps.
Salesforce's low-code capabilities are part of a broader intelligent customer success platform giving organizations the ability to easily connect apps, mobile or otherwise, to their customer data. With a broad range of low-code tools within Force.com and Lightning, Salesforce customers are creating a unified view of their customers. These tools extend beyond just UI to integrations with third party apps or back-end systems, and to security, even allowing users to encrypt sensitive data at rest with only clicks.
