Innovative companies across industries are using modern technologies to engage with their customers in new ways, providing us with amazing and often seamless consumer experiences. We can book a flight online, hail a ride from a mobile app, and even do our taxes with chatbot assistance. Unfortunately, the healthcare industry has not kept pace with the speed of consumer innovation, often using outdated and siloed technologies that do not engage patients when and where they live.

This is creating challenges for providers, as patients today are choosing their doctors in part based on how well they use technology to communicate and engage with them during their care journey. In fact, according to Salesforce’s 2016 Connected Patient Report, 59% of people would choose a doctor who offers a patient app for appointments, bills and health data; and 46% would choose a doctor who offers virtual care treatments vs. one who does not. Patients are also looking for a personal connection with their doctors, yet one-third of patients say their doctor would not recognize them walking down the street!

There is a gap between what patients expect and what the industry provides. This is why doctors today need to invest in building stronger patient relationships with technology or risk being left behind. Click on the animation below to learn more.
