A year ago, we launched Field Service Lightning to bring a new approach to field service. In my four years on the Service Cloud team at Salesforce, I have never seen a product generate so much momentum and excitement with our customer and partners. In an increasingly connected world, driven by IoT and countless consumer experiences, we see that organizations are looking to transform their field service organizations to provide proactive and personalized service.

Today, I am pleased to announce that the Field Service Lightning Mobile App for iOS is available for immediate download from the Apple App Store. We’ve consistently heard from customers that Salesforce1 is terrific but mobile workers have been clamoring for a purpose-built application. You asked for it, and now we’ve answered: Field Service Lightning for iOS is here. Powered by a gorgeous and easy-to-use user interface, this app is built to be offline first, and optimized to improve first visit resolution.

Whether you’re a manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, or utilities company, this mobile app can be tailored to provide your mobile workforce with exactly what they need. Want instant access to job schedules to plan out your work day? Done. Or maybe you need Knowledge articles to help complete tricky jobs? You bet. You can even give visibility into van stock and product inventory so users can keep track of all the parts they have and the parts they will need. This powerful tool empowers your workers to deliver exceptional service to your customers.

The new iOS app is the most location-aware Salesforce mobile app to date. Map and navigation services are integrated with the app to give your workers a preview of their appointments including travel time estimates, and to navigate them to their next appointment.

Field Service Lightning can also send your technicians’ geolocation information back to the scheduling optimizer so that you can be confident that technicians are being dispatched efficiently.

Having all the information you need is key to resolving customer issues on the first visit. So we built an app that lets you easily view all of the activity on a Work Order to date. Chatter means real-time collaboration with other colleagues and headquarters is easier than ever. That way even when they are alone out in the field, your technicians are never stranded!

But what would a great mobile app be without notifications to tell you what you missed? Well, you’ll never have to miss an important message ever again. Push notifications alert users to all new Chatter posts related to their appointments. They are also notified about important changes to their service appointments. Now your technicians can pivot on the fly, even when there are last-minute cancellations!

It was very important for us and our customers that our app meet the challenges that face a mobile workforce. That’s why we designed the app to be completely offline capable. You will never again have to worry about poor network connectivity interfering with completing a job.  With the Field Service Lightning iOS mobile app, network access is no longer required to complete a job.

Any changes, such as creating or updating a record, are all stored in the device’s local memory. Service appointments, work orders, and all associated data is also automatically stored in local memory to be used offline. Then, when network connectivity is restored, the app syncs with Salesforce, and voilà!

Note: This app requires your Salesforce org to have Field Service Lightning. Additionally, individual users need a Field Service Lightning Technician license to be able to use this app. Contact your Salesforce Account Executive for more information on purchasing Field Service Lightning and user licenses.
