“Disruption” may be an overused term these days, but for many industries undergoing digital transformations in today’s age of the customer, it is a way of life.
After all, hospitals struggle to build relationships with patients to encourage preventative medicine and reduce readmissions. Manufacturers worry about creating new revenue streams beyond their products, such as maintenance and customer service. Wealth management firms fret about fintech startups with robo-advisory services. Communications and media companies consider delivering over-the-top video services to take on new upstarts. And on and on.
With these trends as a backdrop, Salesforce hired cartoonist Liz Fosslien to visualize disruption across six industries — communications & media, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, public sector, and retail — in a fun and customer-centric way. Liz, an artist whose work has been featured in The Economist, The Financial Times, NPR and more, interviewed Salesforce industry leaders to capture their best quotes, soundbites and stories.
The resulting cartoons — featuring characters ranging from aloof cable company reps to low-tech surgeons — contextualize the disruption facing customers today. Enjoy via the slideshare below!
