According to a new IDC white paper, sponsored by salesforce.com, the top business value cited by the seven companies interviewed was the ability for IT to build and launch apps faster. All of those surveyed have benefited from building a portfolio of applications specifically on the Salesforce1 Platform.

IDC’s findings show that companies using the Salesforce1 Platform were able to build new, higher-quality custom apps in three weeks, instead of the previous ten weeks. Overall, time to market was accelerated by 70% on average and 80% more applications were launched per year. This quicker development also meant more time to focus on innovation elsewhere in the business.

Here are five specific examples of why the speed of app development made such an impact company-wide:

1. Time to Market

A building industry manufacturer surveyed by IDC was able to increase sales by hundreds of thousands, simply because they could deliver an application in time for peak season.

2. New Revenue

Faster app development meant one company was free to quickly create 24 new products, and as a result, new sources of revenue.

3. Agility

Another organization saw their yield jump by 6% as a result of the ability to move quickly on an opportunity.

4. Resource Allocation

Thanks to the agility of the Salesforce1 Platform, a communication company was able to take resources designated for the app development side and shift them to delivering products to customers. This resulted in tens of millions in increased revenue.

5. Higher Customer Satisfaction

IDC also interviewed a company that saw a 5% improvement in sales, due to its high level of customer responsiveness, reduced churn, and ability to maintain profit margins.
