At Salesforce we offer a world-class intern experience, welcoming the next generation of our workforce through our Futureforce program. This generation is training for the jobs of tomorrow — and with growing cyber attacks and demand for safe and secure data, it's no surprise that some of the most popular internships are with our Security Team.

With roles ranging from Infrastructure Security Software Engineer Intern to Product Security InternSecurity Operations Intern, and more, there are many opportunities at Salesforce for the right candidates. If you’re interested in this exciting industry, this Q&A with Futureforce Recruiter Ryan McCombs and former Security Intern Siddharth Chowdhury explains how to prepare for an internship in this field and why it just might be the right move for you.

What makes a successful security intern candidate?

Ryan McComb: "Passion for security — involvement in your school's security club, attendance at security conferences! Show us that you've participated and submitted bug bounties, perhaps work in the security research lab at your university and if you have published papers."

Siddharth Chowdhury: "I love my field and the work I can do, and I think I was able to convey that during the interview by talking about the different things I do outside of school to learn more about security, network with professionals, and practice my skills. Make sure that you are able to show them how passionate you are so that you can give your interviewers a sense of who you are as a person."

What advice would you give someone interested in interning with our Salesforce Security Teams?

Siddharth Chowdhury: "As a security professional, we rely significantly on gathering as much information as possible. Therefore, looking up as much as you can about the company, the security org, and the team is very helpful during the interview."

What makes working in security at Salesforce special?

Ryan McComb: "Trust is Salesforce's #1 value as a company, and security interns will be working on real-life security challenges that are ever evolving alongside some of the best security experts in the world. They will be learning and implementing world-class security practices to keep our customers' information safe and secure."

Siddharth Chowdhury: "The people are what attracted me to it, in terms of both Salesforce and the various security teams. We shared our passion and nerdiness for security, and there was so much I could learn from them. It was great to not only be able to make an impact but also significantly grow my skill set throughout the summer."

Interns work on projects that affect how our business operates, giving students the opportunity to make a real impact on the future of Salesforce. With a summer internship, countless opportunities for networking opportunities, and fun events to participate in, interns will enjoy a memorable summer in any of our global offices.
