Field Service Lightning’s Android journey began with the release of the first version for Android last October. This marked the first time that users could access all the functionality of Field Service Lightning across operating systems. Since then, our mobile engineering team has been hard at work adding even more valuable features and reimagining the design to make it more user-friendly.

Today, we are continuing that journey with the release of Field Service Lightning 4.0 for Android in our Summer ‘18 release. This is Field Service Lightning’s biggest release ever because it brings loads of features and functionality to the world’s most popular mobile operating system.

Here are five reasons why every Field Service Lightning user should check out the new Android app:

1. Save Time with the Barcode Scanner

Work smarter, not harder. The new barcode scanner lets your mobile workforce use their device’s camera to copy 1D serial barcodes and 2D QR codes into any string, text area, number, and reference field in edit mode. Mobile employees now can utilize their Android device to scan parts and update inventory, without the need of carrying an additional barcode scanner.

2. Connect Flows as Quick Actions

Provide all Android users with guided steps, or flows, to make the job easier for your mobile employees. Flows break down complex tasks into an easy-to-follow walkthrough. Because quick actions can be customized per user, you can assign different flows for different groups of workers. With flows, you can be sure that the job is done right the first time

3. Consume Products from Multiple Locations (Beta)

Your mobile workforce can now add products from multiple locations to the “Products Consumed” list. Previously, a work order or line item’s consumed products could only be associated with a single location. Also, the new location filter lets mobile users search for products by specific locations.

4.  See Available Time Slots by Month

The date picker can expand to a monthly view - previously, your mobile employees only had access to a weekly view. Give your employees a monthly view and see which days they have work, whether it be a multi-day or multi-week project.

5. Capture Multiple Signatures on Service Reports

Efficiently capture and keep track of signatures on service reports using templates that have multiple signature blocks. Capture the signatures of your customer, your technician and other important parties right on the app to fully sign off on all completed work. Gain visibility into what has been done on-site.

These are just five of the many new features available for Field Service Lightning users on Android. This release has tons of new features to help you deliver an amazing service experience every time, from anywhere, and regardless of connectivity.
