Lightning Platform builds on the foundation of Force.com. That's why, going forward, we'll be using Lightning Platform as our brand. None of the Force.com features our Customer Trailblazers love are going away; this change better reflects all the new innovations under the hood of Force.com and our ongoing mission to empower every business with the tools they need to build apps and innovate faster.

The Lightning Platform is composed of the following:

• Lightning Services: Lightning Services are the core of the Lightning Platform, comprised of the trusted infrastructure, data model and shared services that originated with Force.com. That means all of your data, accessible from any device, create a single source of truth for your customers and employees. The platform features multi-tenancy, metadata, shared infrastructure, automatic upgrades, unbreakable customizations and an API-first architecture. We extend capabilities like identity, search, reporting, querying, mobility, APIs, workflow, and developer experience across the entire Salesforce Platform.
• Lightning Ecosystem: The Lightning Ecosystem of pre-built components—reusable blocks of code that can be easily assembled into a custom app— are delivered by sales and a growing list of partners on the Salesforce AppExchange.
• myLightning: With our Dreamforce announcement of myLightning, admins and developers now have the tools to customize any app with the Lightning App Builder for component assembly, Lightning Flow for process automation, and even custom branding and theming to bring your brand to the Salesforce experience.
