It’s no secret that mobile commerce is transforming the shopping experience, as consumers have completely integrated phones into their daily lives. But there’s a disconnect. While over 50% of traffic to retail sites comes from mobile devices, only 30% of sales do. Why? Mainly because completing a transaction on a phone is just too much of a hassle.

We are removing the barriers to mobile commerce, and today announcing the integration of Commerce Cloud with Android Pay for one-touch checkout in Chrome. Commerce Cloud streamlines mobile commerce by making it easy for retailers’ websites to accept Android Pay. Shoppers love the convenience of one-touch purchases and fast, frictionless checkouts. Merchants enjoy simple integration, improved mobile conversions, and the high security of an Android Pay transaction. Android Pay integration extends Commerce Cloud’s mobile focus of improving conversion and ultimately enabling merchants to grow mobile revenue. The benefits are big for both merchants and shoppers.

For the merchant

  • Simple, out-of-the-box functionality: By building Android Pay support directly into Commerce Cloud, we empower retailers and brands to quickly take advantage of its benefits – without requiring hours of development time. Merchants can activate the feature through a simple configuration in Business Manager.
  • Higher mobile conversion and increased sales: The easier the checkout process is for the consumer, the greater the likelihood for conversion. Android Pay creates a fast, frictionless checkout experience for consumers when they are on the go.
  • Enhanced security: Android Pay offers more security for the retailer than credit cards, since the customer’s credit or debit card number is not provided to the retailer. Every transaction is confirmed with a passcode, and Android Pay’s card tokenization helps reduce merchant risk and exposure to fraud.

For the shopper

  • Fast and easy checkout: Shoppers demand convenience when shopping online, especially on mobile. If they’re confronted with pages of tiny form fields, they’ll bail. With Android Pay, they no longer have to enter their shipping information or get redirected to a payment site. They simply shop, click, and buy.
  • Peace of mind: When customers use Android Pay to check out in your store or mobile app, Android Pay doesn’t send their actual credit or debit card number to make the payment. Instead it uses a virtual account number to represent the account information.

“We’re excited to deliver Android Pay seamlessly inside of Salesforce Commerce Cloud,” said Pali Bhat, Global VP of Payment Products, Google. “Android Pay makes mobile checkout easy. Shoppers no longer need to enter their card details, they can just choose Android Pay and authenticate with their device to speed through checkout.”

Android Pay builds on Commerce Cloud’s ongoing work to ensure that mobile commerce keeps pace with mobile traffic. In late 2016 we announced Apple Pay for the web, giving shoppers the ability to make one-touch payments in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. And this week, we’re also announcing Mobile-First Reference Architecture, an out-of-the-box website blueprint to optimize the mobile shopping experience.

Android Pay will be available to all Commerce Cloud customers in July.
