Your career journey likely has its share of twists and turns, and it can be tough to always stay focused, present, and motivated. Hey, it happens to the best of us! During challenging times, it’s more important than ever to remember your overarching priorities, goals, and values...your career rules to live by. Not exactly sure what those are? Don’t worry — we’ve got a little inspiration to get you started.
Meet Doina Fagurel, Technical Solution Architect at Salesforce. Since finding a home in our Germany office two years ago, Fagurel has become the first female Certified Technical Architect outside of the United States, and is currently the only woman worldwide holding all seven Salesforce certifications (no small feat!). Despite her dedication and determination, it’s definitely not all work and no play: Fagurel is also an avid reader, mountaineer, and mother to her eight-year-old son.
What does it take to achieve this level of professional and personal success? Hard work, team spirit, and staying true to several core career tenets. Here, Fagurel shares her 10 rules to live by for a rich and rewarding career.
Always be true to yourself and trust your choices.
Challenge yourself intellectually and constantly push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
Speak your mind and don’t be too shy to demonstrate your personal and professional value.
Don’t hold yourself back. Give your projects everything you’ve got and you will succeed in your goals.
Know that the people around you are generous and will gladly help and support you...all you need to do is ask!
Keep track of your tasks and prioritize them to stay focused and efficient.
Stick to your commitments and deliver on your promises.
Be receptive to feedback and to the needs of those around you, whether they be colleagues, managers, customer representatives.
Realize that you have the potential and strength to realize your goals and overcome obstacles, more than you even imagine.
Follow your passions and ideas, be bold, and aim high...the sky’s the limit!
These inspirational words are clearly working for Fagurel, and can work for you. To create your own rulebook, choose any of these ten lessons that resonate with you, then add on your own personal mission statements to live by. Whenever you’re feeling stuck in your career, take a look at your rules and get fired up to make your professional dreams a reality.

The Salesforce Woman of the Month campaign turns the spotlight on the amazing women who help make Salesforce the World’s Most Innovative Company (according to Forbes) and one of Fortune Magazine’s Best Companies to Work For. Honorees are nominated by fellow employees and selected by a dedicated committee that works to ensure a variety of roles and regions are honored.
