It’s another major recognition for salesforce.com. The company has been named a leader in Gartner’s recently released Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Platform as a Service (aPaaS) report. Gartner defines an enterprise aPaaS as one “designed to support the enterprise requirements for business applications and application projects.”

Salesforce.com’s Salesforce1 Platform, first announced in November, is an enterprise cloud platform that lets companies build and deliver custom apps faster to connect employees, customers, and products. The Salesforce1 Mobile App, also launched last fall, can quickly make many of these apps mobile with a few admin setting clicks.

The new Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise aPaaS examines technology providers in the rapidly changing PaaS landscape. Analysts evaluated aPaaS vendors on their vision and their ability to execute. They also took a look at providers’ understanding of how market forces can be employed to create opportunity.

According to Gartner, enterprise aPaaS market leadership “implies an understanding of the demands of the enterprise and the opportunities of cloud computing and a genuine commitment to enterprise cloud computing.”

Adopting a new platform is a major decision, one that businesses of any size consider carefully. Below are three  reasons why so many customers choose the Salesforce1 Platform:

1. Success

The numbers prove the success of the Salesforce1 Platform and our customers. They have used it to build over four million custom apps. There have been more than two million installs of the over two thousand AppExchange apps. In addition, the Salesforce1 Platform clocks over one-point-five billion transactions per day.

2. Speed

The underlying problem when it comes to legacy platforms is that it simply takes too long to build and deploy an enterprise app. A typical development cycle can last anywhere from six to 12 months. Much of that time is devoted to building the back-end infrastructure such as physical servers, the software stack, security, and user access. These services are provided out of the box with the Salesforce1 Platform, saving valuable time and allowing companies to bring their app ideas to life faster.

3. Trust

The Salesforce1 Platform is the most trusted enterprise cloud platform. Performance, scalability, and security are all critical components for organizations to run their business in the cloud. The Salesforce1 Platform does more than 70-billion transactions a quarter and is certified for all major worldwide security and data privacy standards. These certifications ensure the highest industry requirements for data privacy, availability, and compliance.
