Take three different companies in three different industries: mobile phone manufacturing, healthcare, and advertising management. What do the apps they build have in common?

  • They’ve attempted to automate with spreadsheets
  • They’re all smart processes that help make humans more efficient
  • Many people are involved in the process, both internally and externally, and want to know the status of it
  • None of them are related to CRM or sales apps

The reason to point out these similarities is to show that companies with dramatically different needs, in completely different industries, can all benefit from the same thing: Automating their business with the Salesforce1 Platform.

Here’s how the following companies solved their spreadsheet madness:

Motorola, A Google Company

Mobile phone giant Motorola, A Google Company needed to manage and track the software that went onto their cutting edge mobile phones. They faced multiple data sources and a lack of an automated partner management solution. Using the Salesforce1 Platform, Motorola was able to create an automated process that pulls together disparate data sources that can now be reported on.

Allergan

Compliance is an important focus to Allergan, which provides specialty healthcare products. The company was using manual processes to distribute document templates, which were then printed, signed, scanned, and emailed back. With the Salesforce1 Platform, they’ve developed a portfolio of compliance apps. Allergan business partners access the compliance documents via an online portal, view policies and procedures, complete certifications, respond to questionnaires, and electronically sign and confirm. This allows Allergan to centrally track the compliance responses, and assess risk scores automatically.

Operative

Operative manages more than 30% of all digital ad spend in the marketplace. The work they do for their clients is highly customizable. The company was managing giant spreadsheet files with hundreds of tabs. Operative solved this by building a project management app on the Salesforce1 Platform that their professional services team and clients use. The app manages project complexity by tracking all configuration decisions, delivers consistent how-to messaging, enables client self-service, and has reduced cost to implement by 22%.
