Last night, Salesforce was named the #1 Best Workplace in Europe by Great Place to Work. In the two years that we’ve been eligible for this award, this is the second time that we’ve ranked as #1. We’re honored by this recognition and know it would not have been possible without our incredibly engaged employees who give their best every day.
Celebrating together
Every year, the Great Place to Work Institute analyzes companies’ workplace culture by looking at how they hire, develop, speak, listen to, care for and thank their employees. The evaluation is based on an anonymous and impartial survey of our own employees. Participants are encouraged to be open and honest, which makes the results so meaningful.
This year, we participated in five European countries – Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, France, and the U.K. – ranking in the top 4 in every country and #1 in two countries. The country rankings sometimes lead to a little bit of playful competition between us, but in the end, we all work together as an Ohana – meaning ‘family’ in Hawaiian. Being named #1 in Europe is a perfect opportunity to celebrate together as one European Ohana.
Growing strong
Throughout the EMEA region, we are growing at an incredible pace. In 2000, just one year after Salesforce was founded, we opened our first European office. 19 years later, we have more than 7,000 employees in the region. While we are growing and evolving continuously, we are keeping one constant: our determination to create and maintain a great workplace for all. We do this by creating a strong culture based on our four core values trust, customer success, innovation, and equality. These values come to life in everything we do. It’s in the way we help customers succeed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in how we keep going the extra mile for each other, and in how we are giving back to our communities.
We do this through our 1-1-1 philanthropic model where we give 1% of our time, 1% of our product, and 1% of our resources back into the community. Last year, our employees in the EMEA region logged more than 184,000 hours volunteering and more than 19,000 hours in pro bono work, supporting projects that are close to their hearts and making a positive impact as part of something bigger.
This award is an incredible recognition of the workplace culture we are creating together, and we want to thank all of our employees for being part of it. Creating and maintaining a great workplace is an ongoing journey, and we are set on continuing on that journey together. Thank you!
