Welcoming a baby in the near future? (Congrats!)

Have an employee or teammate who is expecting a new child?

Currently navigating what it means to be a working parent?

Then you don’t want to miss this!

Four Harvard Business School graduates from various industries recently joined forces at Salesforce to tell their real, uncensored stories of what it’s like to be expecting a new baby at work. The event, which was sponsored by the Salesforce Women’s Network and Women in Tech, drew a crowd of over 200.

We listened as CEOs, SVPs, and EVPs from Salesforce, OpenTable, Prado Group, and CoffeeMeetsBagel shared their experiences as working parents. We heard from a single mom, a mom who wasn’t expecting to be expecting, a mom working to normalize discussions of parenting at work, and a mom who jumped back into startup work just three weeks (!) after giving birth.

Some of the panelists’ stories were candid. (Pumping breast milk while commuting to work is possible!). At times they were very personal. (The loneliness of maternity leave can often be painful.) And they all provided valuable insight – not just for expecting parents, but for all people managers and peers – on topics like:

  • Creating a transition plan for coming back to work after maternity leave

  • Strategies for prioritizing (and blending!) work and parenting

  • The multitude of ways to share the responsibility of childcare at home

  • How to build a support system with others in your shoes (they’re out there!)

Listen in yourself to learn what it can be like to be expecting at work, or to be a new parent who is juggling a child and a career you love, plus the best ways to keep your head on straight during this exciting transition.
