Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the most sustainable Dreamforce yet!

We brought the environment to life all four days of Dreamforce with inspiring sessions, a dedicated environment day, and lots of behind the scenes sustainability initiatives. We offset 100% of onsite event emissions, emissions from Salesforce employee travel, and onsite event water use. And with your help, we donated $50,000 to National Park Foundation - $10 for every Trailhead badge earned onsite at Dreamforce

We hope you enjoyed experiencing Sustainability across campus. If you weren’t able to participate or want to relive the fun, here are some of our favorite moments from Dreamforce 2017.

Monday we kicked off Dreamforce with a session dedicated to how cutting-edge companies from around the world are thinking differently about environmental stewardship. Check out the recording.

Our Green Angel employee volunteers (over 400!), joined us once again to help attendees recycle and compost during lunch hours. Did you know we sourced 100% compostable packaging for lunch each day? We also conserved over 5 million gallons of water by eliminating beef from the menu on Monday and Thursday.

Tuesday, thought leaders from multiple sectors discussed how climate change isn’t stopping them, it’s inspiring them to act now. Check out the inspirational panel of leaders from our Salesforce.org idea forum: Sustainability Leadership in the Face of Climate Change.

Ocean advocates joined us Tuesday for an eye-opening session that helped explain how technology is playing an important role in developing creative solutions that benefit both our oceans and communities.

Wednesday was Environment Day at the Learning Cabin - the go-to place on campus to get inspired and give back. We focused on climate, parks, and oceans, all of which are inextricably linked to the success of our global communities and economies. To bring these concepts to life we had an ocean VR experience where attendees could deep dive with whales led by our friends at the Benioff Ocean Initiative.

Another non-profit, Cool Effect, joined us to help attendees visualize the impact of carbon emissions on our planet with their Carbon Mirror. Cool Effect supports projects around the world that reduce carbon pollution. You can easily offset your travel to Dreamforce and support one of their innovative projects.

A key focus area for our Dreamforce sustainability program is conserving resources. It takes 1.5x the amount of water in a single-use plastic water bottle to produce it. Plastic pollution is also a growing global challenge. That’s why we minimize disposable water bottles and encourage attendees to do the same. We had over 2,000 attendees participate in our Water Refill Challenge and together saved over 75,000 single-use plastic water bottles.

To end the conference, we offered lanyard recycling bins in Moscone West and collected over 2,000 attendee badges that will be upcycled.
