Every year on December 10th, Human Rights Day is observed across the world — honoring the day the United Nations adopted the universal declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Today marks the 70th anniversary of this important milestone to drive equality forward by advocating for the basic human rights of all people.
We firmly believe that as the world around us evolves, so is the role of business in society. We believe that corporations — once focused almost exclusively on shareholders — must increasingly balance many stakeholders: employees, partners, customers, public schools, government, and society at large. Businesses have a responsibility to use their platform and influence for the betterment of society.
For example, a recent Salesforce Research report found that 80% of business professionals believe that companies have a responsibility to go beyond profit to make an impact on society.

Equality gaps are growing across our societies and corporations are uniquely positioned to bridge vs. widen them. To that end, the UN crafted their Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which details how businesses can address human rights both within their workplaces and in the communities they serve. Salesforce is fully committed to these principles.
We believe that the drive to Equality starts with us. We are committed to ensuring that every employee feels valued, heard, and respected said we within our four walls. We firmly believe that everyone should be able to be their full authentic selves at work. But we also recognize as a company, we can create meaningful change by standing up and speaking out on global human rights issues that impact any of our stakeholders.
This past year we have worked to stand with our greater Ohana — employees, customers, partners, tech industry, and community— to advocate against violence, hate, bigotry, and discrimination that threatened the rights of the people across the planet.

We are stronger when we stand together. We all can do our part to ask, listen, show up, and speak up as Allies to one another.
