The Salesforce World Tour in DC brought together some of the best minds in the realms of Equal Pay trailblazers, AI pioneers, and champions of the 21st century workforce. It's no secret that the technology industry is booming. The industry's boom brings vast job opportunities, but without the access to education and training needed to succeed in these future jobs, many risk being left behind.

1. Watch our 21st Century Workforce Panel

While experts estimate computing jobs will more than double by 2020, underrepresented minorities earn only 11% of engineering degrees and women earn only 17% of computer and information sciences degrees. How can we prepare the next generation with the training and skills needed to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow?

Moderator Stephanie Ruhle, Anchor, “MSNBC Live” and Correspondent, NBC News, discussed these topics with panelists The Honorable Suzan DelBene, Member of Congress (D-WA-1); Christopher Liddell, Assistant to the President, Daniel Villao, Deputy Administrator, Apprenticeship USA, U.S. Department of Labor; and Jay Banfield, Chief Officer of Innovation & Scale and Managing Director, California, Year Up. 2. YearUp: Bringing Skills and Opportunities to Low-Income Young Adults

One organization is already working hard to boost the next generation of leaders. Year Up is a nonprofit organization that has partnered with Salesforce.org for many years. Year Up provides low-income young adults, ages 18 - 24, with a combination of technical and professional skills, as well as corporate internships and wraparound support.

Last year, we worked with YearUp to bring career advice to aspiring young leaders. And this year, we got the chance to work with YearUp again.
