After months of anticipation, Dreamforce is finally here. We’ve wrapped up the first day of breakout sessions, keynotes, and the opening of the Cloud Expo. Before you head to the Networking Reception tonight, check out five highlights from today. They’re key talking points for mingling with your fellow attendees!

1. Fireside Chat with Marc Benioff and Tony Prophet

Chairman and CEO of Salesforce Marc Benioff sat down with Microsoft Corporate VP of Windows Marketing Tony Prophet for a fireside chat to discuss cloud and mobile trends and the Salesforce/Microsoft partnership.

The key phrase that came out of the conversation: Beginner’s Mind.

“I think a really critical part of being successful in our industry is having a beginner’s mind,” said Benioff.

The fireside chat highlighted the importance of both companies and their leaders to have a beginner's mind, surrounding themselves with people who are actually going to tell you what you don’t want to hear. In concert with the beginner’s mind is self-awareness, which Prophet noted is the mark of a true leader. Self-awareness comes from listening to others and reflecting on their constructive criticism.

2. The PayPal Mafia and the Future of Innovation

Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, Max Levchin, co-founder and CTO of PayPal, and Jeremy Stoppleman, co-founder and CEO of Yelp (aka “The PayPal Mafia) formed an all-star panel that discussed the future of innovation.

3. Tony Robbins: Breaking Through Your Edge

Life coach and motivation speaker Tony Robbins led an action-packed keynote that got attendees on their feet, screaming and dancing. Some of key points revolved around the three decisions that are controlling your quality of life.

- What are you going to focus on?
- What does it mean?
- What am I going to do?

But the ultimate theme of Robbins’ talk? Engagement, whether it be in your personal life or within the context of work. Engagement means better retention of information, more profit and—you guessed it—greater satisfaction.

4. #DFGives Starts Off With a Bang

Dreamforce is striving to donate One Million Meals to those in need, and Tony Robbins and Marc Benioff have both pledged to match that number if it’s achieved, bringing the total to three million meals donated at the end of Dreamforce. After the end of the first day there were already over 500,000 donated—halfway there!

Keep donating cans and tweeting your contributions using the #DFGives hashtag.

5. Still to come: Marc Benioff’s Opening Keynote
