When Marc Benioff started salesforce.com, he was inspired in part by General Colin Powell to integrate philanthropy into his business. So just as salesforce.com was being formed, the Salesforce.com Foundation was born. The Salesforce.com Foundation is based on a simple idea: leverage salesforce.com's product, resources and people to improve communities throughout the world. The Salesforce.com Foundation is an organization with a sustainable business model, driven by a social change mission, with community engagement for social good at its core.

We all know that Dreamforce is huge, but did you know that it’s also the largest Nonprofit Technology Conference in the world? This year, more than 6,000 will register, representing nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, and grantmaking foundations across the US and 20 other countries. The center of the action will be in the Foundation Zone in the Marriott Marquis where more than 80 industry-focused breakouts and Circles of Success trainings will take place in addition to networking and additional programming in the Power of Us Theater including live demos and opportunities to “Share Your Story” in our video booth. Within the Foundation Zone there is also a specialized expo featuring 28 partners with deep experience on addressing the needs of nonprofits and higher education institutions.
Additional programming in the Foundation Zone includes live demos on topics such as fundraising, recruitment, social advocacy, and communities, as well as customer stories. Informal and open lunches occur on a daily basis, each focusing on specific topics—mission driven for the nonprofit space—including international development and education reform.
This year, we are integrating Giving Back programming throughout Dreamforce. Don’t miss the fireside chat featuring Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen and Salesforce Foundation President Suzanne DiBianca who will discuss the transformation and democratization of philanthropy. Another session not to be missed features Hadi Partovi, co-founder of Code.org, who is working with the Salesforce.com Foundation on Code.org’s first school district partnership in California. Hear how the City of San Francisco is at the forefront of modernizing curriculum - at a time when less than 10 percent of schools offer computer science across the state.
In the Dreamforce plaza on Howard St., we’ll have opportunities for everyone to volunteer and give back at Dreamforce.

Helping solve world hunger with Stop Hunger Now! Join us on the plaza to put together meals for those in need. Stop Hunger Now is a customer who uses Salesforce to manage their efforts in international hunger relief. Let’s work together to get 75,000 meals sorted!
For the third year in a row, we’re putting together “Night-Night” kits on the plaza. Our goal is to put together at least 3,000 kits that include a new security blanket, children’s book, and a stuffed animal. These packages are donated to homeless children to help them feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and special.
Don’t leave Dreamforce without engaging with Talk, Read, Sing in the plaza on our last day. The program, sponsored by Hillary Clinton, encourages parents to spend more time talking, singing, and reading to their young children. We’ll work to put together 2,000 totes that include items to promote this game-changing initiative.
For the second year in the row, we are hosting the UCSF Benefit Concert for Kids as part of the Dreamforce Gala. This is a great opportunity to ‘upgrade’ your Dreamforce Gala experience, or to invite a guest along, by purchasing a ticket to the Benefit. Tickets are limited, and include a VIP section at the Gala and an exclusive after party. All proceeds benefit the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals.
