Dreamforce is an event like no other, and if this is your first time to Dreamforce you’ll need to do some prep to make the most of your experience.

You have your ticket, you’ve started memorizing Bruno Mars’ most popular songs, and have sessions lined up in Agenda Builder, but here are our need-to-know tips and tricks to ensure that your first Dreamforce is a successful one.

Dress for success

Operating at peak Dreamforce performance requires a bit of planning, and it starts with what you pack. You’ll be on your feet walking to and from breakout sessions, so comfortable shoes are a necessity.

The official dress code of Dreamforce is business casual, so pack items that are presentable and can be worn both day and night. Though October is typically a beautiful month for San Francisco, weather is unpredictable, so make sure to bring a light jacket with you—especially the evening of the gala.

Have a schedule, but don't overcommit

If you haven’t already, start booking sessions and defining what you want to get out of Dreamforce. Come with a schedule and a to-do list to make sure that you get all you need out of Dreamforce, but leave time to network and explore.

With more than 1,450 breakout sessions, it’s tempting to fill your schedule. Leave time between sessions to network with new acquaintances, grab a coffee and build new relationships.

Carve out time to explore different zones throughout campus.  With dedicated zones for developers, marketers, admins and salespeople, you’ll get the opportunity to see demos and meet other salesforce users.

Bring the essentials

In just a few weeks, we will be releasing the Dreamforce App. Make sure to download the app to keep up with all the most recent updates and to track your schedule.

Figure out how you want to take notes. Laptops are too heavy for some attendees to carry around all day, so consider taking notes on a tablet, iPad, or even with pen and paper. Using apps like Evernote will also keep you organized throughout the week.

Always have a charger on hand! Outlets are precious commodities at Dreamforce, so make sure you’re ready to charge your devices when you have a free moment. You might want to consider bringing a surge protector and share the outlet with a few friends.

Have fun — but not too much fun

Imbibe wisely! With plenty of partner parties from Sunday through Thursday, it’s tempting to stay out into the early hours of the morning. While we encourage you to network and meet other Salesforce professionals, some zones and breakout sessions start as early as 8 am. Prioritize which partner parties you want to attend and plan the mornings accordingly. And if you do plan on partying well into the evening, make sure to hydrate!
