Today, we’re pleased to share salesforce.com’s latest Sustainability Report, which details the progress we’ve in our commitment to sustainability over the two years. For us, sustainability—environmental, social, and economic—means using the power of our technology, people, and resources for good throughout our business and in communities around the world.

Here are some key highlights:

1. Renewable Energy

We committed to steadily increase the amount of renewable energy we use in our data center operations, with a goal to eventually be 100% powered by renewable energy.

2. Green Building

The percentage of our offices built to LEED green building standards grew to 38%in FY14, up from 21% in FY13.

3. Carbon Footprint

As our overall business has grown, so has our carbon footprint. However, we’ve kept the average amount of carbon produced per transaction, such as updating a contract record, steady at .07 grams CO2e, demonstrating the efficiency of our platform. 

4. Philanthropy

From 1999 to January 2014, Salesforce technology powered more 20,000 nonprofit and higher education institutions; we provided more than $55 million in grants; and our employees logged more than 580,000 volunteer hours in communities around the world. We’ve achieved this through our integrated philanthropy model, in which we leverage 1% of our product, 1% of our equity, and 1% of employees’ time to accelerate social change.
