ian glazerIt’s nearly Spring and change is in the air. Up until the end of last week, I was a research VP and agenda manager at Gartner, directing identity and access management as well as privacy research. And with nary a break in between, I start Monday here at salesforce.com work in the identity product management team.

So why the change? Besides the awesome company, excellent people, and cool technology, there’s something more. Salesforce.com has the chance to fundamentally alter the identity and access managment market; that’s what I signed up for.

Instead of offering IAM services as a chunk of middleware that stands apart from the services that the business actually wants and uses, salesforce.com offers IAM as a part of those very services. This approach is unlike nearly every other company in the space and it is this approach that makes us a force to be reckoned with. I have been watching and working in the IAM market for over a decade and when I saw what salesforce.com was doing I knew… I wanted in.
