At salesforce.com, we’ve been working hard to reduce the impact that Dreamforce has on our planet. Last year, we diverted enough trash away from landfills to fill 32 dump trucks – and we’re planning to do even more this year. We’re saving over five tons of paper by moving from a conference guide book to a daily agenda, and 90% of the carpet at Dreamforce will be recycled and reused. These are just a few examples of how we’re working to make sure our choices – before, during and after the event – showcase our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

And you can join us in making a difference! There are several ways that you can help contribute to a green event. Check out a few below…

1) Visit our Pedal-Powered Sustainability Zone. Charge your mobile devices with bicycle-generated power – and while you’re there, learn about all the ways salesforce.com is sustainable. As an added incentive, we’re also giving away fun green schwag – like bags made from Cloudforce banners and fair trade chocolate.  Come find us on the Dreamforce plaza!

2) Take the Green Hero Challenge. Are you taking public transportation, carrying a reusable water bottle, or offsetting your trip’s carbon emissions? Then you’re on your way to being a Green Hero! For each act, you’ll get one entry to win great prizes. Five acts earn you a Green Hero Badge and a chance to win an Ipad.

To enter, stop by the Pedal-Powered Sustainability Zone in the Dreamforce Plaza to let us know how you’ve been sustainable at Dreamforce. Or you can Chatter about it with the hashtag #dfgreenhero. For more ideas and the official rules, visit the Sustainability at Dreamforce Chatter conversation

3) Recycle and Compost. Not sure where to stash all that trash? Our team of Green Angels is here to help. Look for the green t-shirts to help you sort through your lunch and other recyclable items. We’ll have recycling and composting stations throughout the conference grounds.

4) Join the conversation. Head over to “Sustainability at Dreamforce” to get great tips about how to be more sustainable and connect with like-minded people. Have a question? We want to hear from you!
