We kick off the series today with a piece from Dan Petlon, vice president for IT at Enterasys Networks, a 750-person data-networking company based in Massachusetts. Here Dan shares his thoughts on how Chatter is making an impact at Enterasys:
Enterasys Networks makes data-networking and related security products. We’re the security division of Siemens Enterprise Communications. We are using salesforce.com to manage our sales, customer service, and custom app development.
As soon as Chatter was available to us, we deployed it. The adoption was fantastic. We’ve never deployed a new tool that had so many people using it in such a short time. Minutes after we turned Chatter on, I was getting emails that people were following me. There was a very rapid, viral-type adoption. Chatter is a lot like Facebook, so everyone knew how to use it. We didn’t do any training. From an IT perspective, having a new tool that requires no training is really great!
