For the fourth year in a row, Salesforce Indy has been named one of Indiana's Best Places to Work by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. It's the latest story about our award-winning Indianapolis workplace, which I am incredibly proud to lead. I'm continually impressed by how well our team lives our core values of Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, and Equality in everything we do. From the hard work the team puts into our Marketing Cloud platform, that is headquartered here, to the participation in Salesforce culture, this recognition is all because of the commitment of our Indianapolis team.

We have our heads in the clouds

This past year, we unveiled the beautiful new Ohana floor and I couldn't be happier! Located on the 47th floor of our building (also happens to be Indiana's tallest building), it provides 360-degree views of the city and offers a relaxed atmosphere that our employees, customers, and partners can enjoy as they work and collaborate in the space. It's also a space that's open for non-profit organizations and foundations to use as an event space after hours. For example, earlier this year, we hosted a graduation ceremony for high school students that are a part of Nextech.org Catapult Program — a program that helps inner city high school juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing education and careers in technology. Our Ohana Floor embodies our culture — the idea that we (our employees, our partners, our customers, and our community members) are a family, dedicated to making ourselves, our city, and our world, better places for all.

We're making a difference locally

The great thing about Salesforce Indy that I've experienced is how willing everyone is to help out and make an impact. In 2018, Salesforce Indianapolis employees volunteered over 69,000 hours in the community and have established a powerful relationship with our Indianapolis Public Schools. Through Salesforce's “Circle the Schools” program, a partnership that matches teams of our employees to support local schools in need, we've circled four schools with four more to come by year end. Our employees see the value of providing opportunities to expose students to a career in technology and the impact that this can have on their futures. Additionally, we have built two homes with Habitat for Humanity last year and are gearing up to build two more this year.

We get revved up

At Salesforce Indianapolis, we don't just work and volunteer together — we play together, too. From our Summer Family Event at the Indianapolis Zoo to an employee day at the track we call “Fast Friday,” having fun is serious business. At the last Indy 500, we sponsored JR Hildebrand and his Indy car, and held an event where employees heard what being a Trailblazer means to JR. And of course, we wrapped up a great year in style by ice skating with friends and family at our “Winter Fun” holiday party.

We are a rich fabric of diversity

We have thriving employee resource groups at Salesforce Indy who amaze me with the work that they are completing in the community. This year, these groups have established new relationships with organizations that serve under-represented populations, like the Indianapolis Urban League and Indiana Latino. Whether it's becoming an outspoken voice on the issue of on Equal Education to provide insight into the inequities within our school systems, or making an impact on Indianapolis' homeless, our team shows up to make a difference. Personally, I'm the executive sponsor of Indy's BOLDforce chapter — our black employee resource group — and have been lucky to be involved in the amazing work they are doing in our hub and our community. I'm also excited to share that we just announced our sponsorship of the local WNBA team, the Indiana Fever, which is rooted in one of our core values, equality (and this time, in sports), which both the Fever and Salesforce live daily.

We believe in the power of wellness

We take care of each other, have fun together, and work collaboratively to make the world a better place. But none of that is possible if we don't take care of ourselves, body and soul. At Salesforce, our wellness programs foster a culture of health and mindfulness. Salesforce Indy features an employee gym with group fitness and yoga classes. Last year, we hosted fitness expert and renowned life coach, Jillian Michaels, for a “Press Pause ” event where she shared her best tips on how to achieve our health and wellbeing goals.

As I always say, the best part of my job is the team we have built. I do not consider myself successful; it is our team that's successful, and it's a privilege to come into the office every day to work alongside them to help make Salesforce one of the best places to work in Indiana.
