Salesforce is committed to improving the state of the world and making our planet more sustainable.  With that in mind, we’re proud to announce that two office towers at the heart of our global headquarters in San Francisco are now sourcing 100% renewable energy through the San Francisco Public Utility Commission's (SFPUC) CleanPowerSF program. The two buildings, Salesforce East and Salesforce West, are both already LEED Platinum certified.

Salesforce and the city of San Francisco are both committed to reaching 100% renewable energy and this announcement gets us one step closer to that goal. At a time when states, cities, colleges and universities, businesses and investors are working together to take action and ensure that the U.S. remains a global leader in reducing emissions, Salesforce is proud to support San Francisco’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

Accelerating the deployment of Clean Energy in the Bay Area

Businesses can be powerful platforms for change and Salesforce is committed to doing its part, which includes working with CleanPowerSF to balance the low cost of renewable energy with the financial certainty project developers need to invest in new local wind and solar facilities. Salesforce is CleanPowerSF’s largest commercial customer to date.  

One milestone in Salesforce’s broader environmental strategy

Utility programs like CleanPowerSF’s SuperGreen, which provides electricity from local sources of renewable energy and are open to all San Francisco businesses and residents, align with key tenets of Salesforce’s strategy.

Today’s announcement builds on Salesforce’s Net-Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions achievement from earlier this year. As electricity use is a major source of our greenhouse gas emissions, procuring electricity from renewable resources is our most direct mechanism for mitigating our climate impact. That’s why renewable energy procurement has been a key focus since we made our first public commitment to 100% renewable energy in 2013.
