Another great day down in the history books. Day 2 has just about come to a close and so many exciting things happened. Before you head out to hear Satya Nadella’s keynote and party the night away at AppBash, here are 5 highlight from today, in case you missed it.
After a musical interlude by the legendary Stevie Wonder, Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff took the stage to discuss the future of cloud computing with four leading industry luminaries. He was joined by CEO of Cisco Chuck Robbins, Microsoft Chairman and CEO of Virtual Instruments John W. Thompson, CEO and President of Western Union Hikmet Ersek, and Dr. Laura Esserman, M.D., M.B.A. of University of California San Francisco. Each guest shared insights on how they’re using the cloud to achieve new levels of success with connecting with customers.

During his keynote, Marc shared a vision for a new kind of customer success. This vision is built on our Customer Success Platform, which ties together fully connected solutions to make meaningful connections with your customers.
Earlier this month, we unveiled Lighting Experience. This is a completely new Salesforce experience, from opening the Sales Cloud app, to building on our platform. Lightning consists of three components to make it easier than ever to use Salesforce: the Lightning Experience, Lightning Ecosystem, and Lightning Platform. It’s a re-imagined platform designed to maximize sales rep productivity, complete with analytics and in-line intelligence that will drive sales precision. Get your work done smarter and faster than ever.
This afternoon Salesforce unveiled SalesforceIQ, an intelligent and intuitive addition to the Customer Success Platform. There are two ways to experience SalesforceIQ. The first is SalesforceIQ for Small Business, which delivers an intelligent CRM right out of the box. Powered by Relationship Intelligence technology, this nimble CRM solution sets up quickly and helps small teams prioritize selling and gain deeper insights into their customers. The second experience is SalesforceIQ for Sales Cloud, which provides a data-centric sales experience on the go. This solution beings Relationship Intelligence to your inbox. These proactive and intelligent apps connect Sales Cloud and email to help salespeople sell smarter from anywhere; data science becomes your assistant!
How we perceive and process data is changing. Beyond the Internet of Things, we must begin to see the Internet of Customers, where we translate trillions of data points into real human interactions. Welcome to the IoT Cloud, powered by Thunder, a massively scalable, real-time processing engine. IoT Cloud helps you deliver one-to-one customer engagement using real-time data processing and an intelligent rules engine. With Salesforce IoT Cloud, you can capture events and the resulting data around any and every personal interaction at scale, from web site engagement and device usage, to email histories and mobile events or location, to IoT signals. This gives business users a valuable 360-degree profile of your customer.
Yesterday we heard how the Golden State Warriors have Strength in Numbers. Today, Larry Baer, President and CEO of the San Francisco Giants stopped by to have a conversation about the amazing success his MLB team has achieved. Baer shares his perspective on how the Giants have created a culture of success that led to three World Series titles in the past five years. An interesting point Baer made was how he views the Giants as being in the content business and how technology has empowered leagues and teams to be fresh content creators. He also discussed the importance of cultivating community within the organization and with fans, that also includes plans for a real estate development that surrounds AT&T Park.

Sharing the stage with Marc Benioff, Co-Founder and CEO of Uber Travis Kalanick kicked off the morning with a conversation about technology, innovation and the future of cities. Kalanick discussed the next phase of innovation for Uber, how real-time predictive analytics helps them anticipate market demand, and how their product strategy focuses on three things: convenience, affordability, and a little bit of magic. Kalanick envisions his company being “everywhere for everyone,” while sustaining an employee culture of people who want to invent, create, and make a difference.
