Salesforce.com has an ongoing commitment to the security and trust of our customers. We continue to hire and develop leading talent in the area of security. With that, we’re proud to announce that Dr.Taher Elgamal has joined salesforce.com as our CTO of Security.  
 
Taher is an internationally respected information security leader and cryptographer. We sat down with Taher to ask him a few questions about himself: 
 
Why did you choose Salesforce.com as the next step in your career?
TE: I believe we are at the beginning of an extremely exciting time for the cloud. It’s changing the world in the same way ecommerce did in the 90s. The shift in enterprise apps moving from on premise to the cloud is inevitable and salesforce.com is, and will continue to be, the leader in this space. I want to be a part of this amazing transformation and work with the pioneer and leader.
 
You have received a number of awards and hold quite a few patents. What are you most proud of in your career?
TE: One of my proudest achievement is being recognized as the "father of SSL," the industry standard for Internet security and ecommerce. Every transaction that goes through the web—from ecommerce to B2B transactions—uses SSL to authenticate, encrypt and guarantee integrity for the data while it is travelling over the Internet. 
 
As the new CTO of Security what are you looking forward to accomplishing? 
TE: Helping salesforce.com maintain its position as a leader in security for enterprise applications in the cloud and helping shape the future of cloud computing security.
