Tal Frankfurt (@cloud4good) is the Founder and CEO of Cloud for Good and a certified Salesforce consultant and administrator. He's also a Salesforce MVP and the leader of the Tennessee/Arkansas nonprofit user group. Prior to his involvement with Salesforce, Tal was the director of resource development for a nonprofit organization that worked with at-risk immigrant youth. He was looking for tools to better manage his donors, participants, and volunteers. It was through this experience that Tal learned about Salesforce. The adoption of Salesforce into his everyday work was what sparked the inception of Cloud for Good, a Salesforce implementation partner working primarily with nonprofit and educational institutions to create and implement strategic solutions based on cloud technology.
“Which applications from the AppExchange should I install?” is probably one of the most common
questions we hear from our clients. With more than 1500 apps, it can often be overwhelming to identify the applications your organization can or should use. Here are five applications that I really like because they help our clients focus on their mission vs. technology:
Our clients are using Conga Composer to generate thank you letters, tax receipts, invoices, and event invitations directly from Salesforce. Conga Composer takes the tedious, manual process of retrieving the data from Salesforce and merging it to a document and makes it quick, easy, and done within a couple of mouse clicks. The support for this application, provided by Appextreme’s (the developers of Conga Composer), is outstanding which is a huge plus.
I always say that the most painful part of Salesforce implementation is the data. However, it is also the most valuable asset your organization has. Apsona makes the process of dealing with data easier, faster, and some might say “funner” (we have some geeks on our team). It is a browser-based application that creates a layer on top of Salesforce and adds features like batch updates, easy to use data import tool, and cross-object and exception filtering. Best of all, non-technical users love this application because it is supper user friendly.
I spend most of my day in Gmail and I have been waiting for this application for a long time. Cirrus Insight seamlessly integrates with Gmail, where your customer/constituent communication happens, and brings in contextual information from Salesforce, where vital constituent information is stored. It allows me to easily create a lead while working on an email or view the recent opportunities (or donations) a contact is associated with--all without back and forth to Salesforce.
Obviously, we use our own application in many implementations. We designed this (FREE) application to help nonprofit organizations in their fundraising efforts. With this application, nonprofit professionals can easily record how funds should be allocated between multiple designations and budgetary years. The application includes graphic charts that provide the organization with a quick overview of their fundraising efforts including total donations raised in a budget year and total funds raised for each program.
More and more people today prefer to give online, therefore it is very important to our clients to create a seamless integration between their website and their CRM. Click and Pledge offers great simple solutions to process online gifts including the ability to create donation landing pages that integrate with Salesforce.
