The salesforce.com Summer ‘12 release is quickly approaching and soon you'll be able to take advantage of exciting new features and functionality! If you are a Force.com Sandbox customer, you have the opportunity to get early access to Summer ‘12 in your Sandbox and test new customizations and features before your production organization is upgraded.

The Sandbox Preview window for Summer ‘12 is scheduled to begin May 11, 2012. If you would like your Sandbox organization to take part in the Summer ’12 Preview, your Sandbox will be upgraded on May 11, 2012. If you decide to stay on the current Spring ’12 release, your Sandbox will not be upgraded to Summer ‘12 until June 9, 2012. You may need to take action by May 4, 2012 in order to sign-up for the Summer ’12 Preview.

What Do I Need to Do?
Plan for the Preview: From now until May 4, 2012, decide if you would like your Sandbox to take part in the Summer ’12 Preview. Follow the steps below for each Sandbox org that you have.

Note: If you have a full Sandbox, be mindful of the 29-day refresh policy and plan accordingly.

1)    Determine your Sandbox instance: To determine which server your Sandbox is on, log into your production org and navigate to your Sandbox List page (Setup > Data Management > Sandbox).

Determine your sandbox instance by using the location column above.

2)    REFRESH / DO NOT REFRESH: Once you have located your instance, use the chart below to determine if and when you should refresh your Sandbox.

Sandbox Instance Stay on Spring ’12 (no Preview) Upgrade to Summer ’12 (get the Preview)
Tapp0(CS0), CS3, CS4, CS5, CS7, CS9, CS11, CS12, CS13, CS14, CS15 To stay on Spring ’12, we require you to refresh to a non-preview Sandbox instance.
Please refresh after 12:00 AM PT on May 5, 2012.		 Do not refresh from now until June 8, 2012.
If you do need to refresh, do so before May 5, 2012.
CS1, CS2, CS6, CS8, CS10 Do not Refresh from now until May 5, 2012.
If you need to refresh, do so after 12:00 AM PT on May 5, 2012.		 To get the preview, we require you to refresh to a Sandbox instance that will be upgraded early to Summer ’12.
Please refresh before 12:00 AM PT on May 5, 2012.



Important:

  • The May 5, 2012 deadline is to ensure that all requested refreshes are complete by May 11, 2012. If you have a large Sandbox, please keep in mind how much time it takes to complete your Sandbox refresh to ensure your copy is completed by May 11, 2012. This may mean that you need to request your refresh in advance of the May 5, 2012 deadline to ensure it completes by May 11, 2012.
