Well that went by fast! After months of anticipation, Dreamforce '17 came and went in a flash. It was four days packed with keynotes, sessions, hands-on training, inspirational discussions with some of the world's biggest stars, and much more. There's so much to see across the entire Dreamforce campus, and it's (unfortunately) impossible to clone yourself and be in multiple places at once. So in case you missed some of these highlights, here are our top 10 moments from Dreamforce '17.
Amidst the sea of booths in the Cloud Expo, some of our top customers were featured in the campground. Big-name brands like adidas, Girl Scouts, 21st Century Fox, KONE, Citi, and UCSF showed how their businesses are innovating around the world. Attendees engaged in hands-on activities and interactive experiences gain a better understanding of how Salesforce can help them succeed.
In this fireside chat, Marc Benioff was joined onstage by Ginni Rometty, Chairman, President, and CEO of IBM, to discuss the future of work. The two leaders shared their vision of AI's impact on the workforce, as well as other emerging technologies that are challenging traditional business models. They also discussed how the massive influx of data is drastically impacting the world.
For attendees that wanted to dive a little deeper into a particular Salesforce product or solution, there were numerous keynotes throughout the week that enabled them to drill down deeper. With demos, special celebrity guests (like Pitbull at the Marketing Cloud keynote!), and other fun surprises, attendees could learn more about the product roadmaps for each particular product, and gain additional details on some of the week's biggest product announcements, such as myEinstein, myLightning, myTrailhead, mySalesforce, myIOT, and Live Apps for Quip.
Back by popular demand, the Dreampitch returned to the Dreamforce stage to give entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of a star-studded panel. Judges included will.i.am, founder and CEO of i.am+, Chris Sacca, founder and chairman of Lowercase capital and Shark Tank participant,Shahrzad Rafati, founder and CEO of BroadbandTV, and Guy Oseary talent manager to the stars for Sound Ventures. This panel judged pitches from three startups built on the Salesforce platform. Retrolux, a sales and marketplace solution unique to the lighting industry, Loop & Tie, a revolutionised corporate gifting solution, and Meta Saas, a SaaS service and vendor management company, each nailed their pitch — but only one could walk away with the winning prize of a $250,000 investment from Salesforce Ventures. Congratulations, Loop & Tie!
Two Hollywood heavyweights, Taraji P. Henson and Natalie Portman, were a part of this year's Equality Summit lineup to share their own stories and inspire others. In the discussion, “Changing the Face of Entertainment,” Henson shared some laughs and some tears about how she has been fighting stereotypes throughout her entire career, and continues to fight for others. In “The Path to Equal Pay”, Portman discussed her personal experience with pay disparity between herself and her male co-stars, and how she is working to eliminate the pay gap in Hollywood.
Every year at Dreamforce, we put down our laptops and notepads and rock out to benefit a good cause — and this year's Dreamfest was no exception. Fifteen-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Alicia Keys was joined onstage by Lenny Kravitz and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, raising $15 million for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals.
In one of the most emotional and inspiring hours of the entire week, Ashton Kutcher took the stage to discuss using technology to defeat some of the most challenging problems in our modern world. Kutcher co-founded Thorn, which partners across industries to fight the trafficking and exploitation of children with the power of technology. Citing Bono's crusade to end AIDS as one of his primary inspirations, Kutcher decided to “put down the phone and be the person who steps in to help.” If you missed this incredible session, check out the recording on Salesforce LIVE.
Marc Benioff's Dreamforce opening keynote is always a can't-miss event, and this year was no exception. We met incredible Trailblazers like Stephanie Herrera, who blazed a trail from the cotton fields in West Texas to a career as a director of technology and Salesforce MVP. Herrera now shares her passion for Salesforce with others as the founder of Salesforce Saturday. Incredible customers such as adidas, 21st Century Fox, and Girl Scouts joined us on the keynote stage to discuss how Salesforce is enabling them to connect to their customers in a whole new way. The keynote was also full of exciting new announcements, including a brand-new partnership with Google.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama graced the stage at Dreamforce for an exclusive fireside chat with Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff. Mrs. Obama discussed life as a private citizen and the causes she and her husband, former President Obama, find near and dear to their hearts.
In addition to the $15 million raised at Dreamfest, there were numerous opportunities to give back throughout the entire week of Dreamforce. Each day had a different focus: On Monday, attendees shared advice in a live interview booth, to be shared with our nonprofit workforce development partners. On Tuesday, participants packed backpacks for students affected by recent hurricanes, in partnership with World vision. On Wednesday, we focused on the environment, learning how the health of our climates, oceans, and parks are intimately linked with economic prosperity. Lastly, on Thursday, we highlighted the corporate giving and the Pledge 1% initiative.
Throughout the entire week, the Dreamforce Quest made giving back more fun than ever. The Quest encouraged attendees to explore all different aspects of the Dreamforce campus. For each Quest completed, Salesforce.org donated $50. Our goal was to raise $1 million for three charities — Girl Scouts, College Track, and Upwardly Global — and we are proud to announce that with the help of our attendees we hit our $1 million goal. Thank you Trailblazers!
That's a wrap on Dreamforce '17 — see you next year!
