We’ve all had some life changing moments. My latest one was when I was recently announced as a Salesforce MVP. Being recognised as a Salesforce MVP is my chance to “pay it forward”, by helping the growth of our community by being active in the Salesforce Success Community, local User Groups and community in general.
My journey with salesforce.com commenced in 2008 when, with no real exposure to Salesforce, I had my eyes opened by Alan Perkins to what can be achieved with the Salesforce Platform. I soon realised that Salesforce was not just about CRM, it was a platform that could be quickly adapted to accommodate processes from across the business, rapidly delivering solutions and removing the restraints that come with traditional solution implementations. I could see how this could change the way organisations work and I made a decision to shift my career. I became a Salesforce Consultant in 2010.
During 2010 I heard of Dreamforce and thought it may be worthwhile attending. When I booked my tickets and accommodation I never realised what a change it would make. The Dreamforce app was released for #DF10 and, combined with Twitter, I started seeing and participating in conversations that revolved around Dreamforce and Salesforce. I realised that I was suddenly involved with a community of like minded people who clearly enjoyed reaching out and helping each other. By the time Dreamforce rolled around it felt like I was meeting a bunch of friends in San Francisco rather than attending a conference. That week was another life changing experience, seeing and hearing so many people who were as excited about Salesforce and the possibilities it delivers was amazing and I still get chills when I hear “Own It” by the Black Eyed Peas.
I returned to Dreamforce last year and got a bigger buzz. It’s probably not a surprise that I’ve signed up to attend again this November where, in addition to meeting up with the every growing ANZ crew of Dreamforcers, we will get a chance to hear where salesforce.com is heading and how customers are implementing great solutions.
These days I’m working solely in the Not For Profit sector where our team and I get the chance to deliver innovative solutions that are transforming organisations.
These are the reasons I’m excited about being a Salesforce MVP. Basically, I get to do the stuff I’m passionate about and get to share it with a great community and help others to come on the same journey.
